Rose Jonas

Our Nov. 16 2007 Presenter

Rose Jonas, Ph.D., "TV's Job Doctor," feels estimably qualified to be a career and life coach because she's been practically everything: legal secretary, dental assistant, actress, grill cook, theatrical publicist, public relations director. One of those who get on a career path eventually, Rose finished college at age 30 and became "the first lady personnel man" at a manufacturing plant of a Fortune 100 company, eventually becoming a human resources director. Feeling entrepreneurial, she left Corporate America and founded The Jonas Company, an organizational consulting firm (strategic planning and team building). As CEO, it's the longest job she's ever had.

Her passion, however, is people and their careers. She works with company presidents, executives and professionals; developing career strategies, resolving career or people problems, easing them out of hot water from time to time, coaching them to their next steps. Rose holds a B.S. in business administration from the University of Missouri, a master's in urban studies from Occidental College, and a Ph.D. in human and organizational behavior from The Fielding Graduate Institute. She teaches graduate HR classes at Washington University's University College. She was a graduate Fellow with the Coro Leadership Training Program. She is trained as a Gestalt therapist, and is a certified career coach.

In addition to over 700 TV/radio appearances around the country as a career expert, Rose is also a writer. She is the author of Can I Lie on My Resume? Strategies that Win the Career Game (2004) and The Campaign that Couldn't Be Won (2000); as well as a chapter on building community in Secrets of Successful Retreats (with Ellen Sweets of the Denver Post, Carol Weisman, Ed., 2003). Her articles on career, family and weight issues have appeared in national magazines. She is an occasional newspaper columnist. As "The Job Doctor," her goal is to use her talents at hearing the heart's song and to make a difference in people's lives, one person at a time. The doctor's home page.
