Community and Media Relations Specialist

The state's dental benefits leader, Delta Dental of Missouri (DDMO), seeks experienced professional for Community and Media Relations Specialist position. The Community and Media Relations Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and managing DDMO's community and media relations programs to develop public and customer interest, understanding, good will and opportunity. This includes, but is not limited to, serving as a central information source about oral health and DDMO activities statewide, overseeing work of public relations agency, managing external newsletters, serving as a DDMO representative in various service groups and community organizations, coordinating and developing collateral materials and newsletters, providing media training and consult to executives as necessary, and tracking the impact of community outreach initiatives and media coverage.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate superb written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively, charismatically and spontaneously before groups and the public.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal relationship skills capable of building and maintaining positive, constructive working relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Have the ability to work independently and set priorities for own workload.
  • Exhibit the ability to arrange the work and relationships with vendor PR agencies to achieve successful outcomes.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations or other equivalent field
  • Three to five years of relevant work experience
  • A demonstrated track record for developing and managing community programs and events
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects is a must
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
