Diversity
The Communicator's Diversity Resource CenterBuilding on PRSA's national commitment to diversity in all chapters, we are compiling tools to assist you in establishing or enhancing your company's diversity program. We have compiled these diversity resources to help you generate ideas that meet your organization's needs. Providing professional communicators with the access to tools, training and opportunities to improve diversity efforts will assist in your efforts to build trust and a sense of team throughout your organization. Because every organization is unique and requires specialized plans, we hope that you will be able to refer to this information as you move forward in developing your individual program. The information is not meant to be comprehensive, but rather a starting point that will help you design, refine, and successfully communicate your company's diversity strategy. Your Diverse Workplace: Q: How do you start building a Workplace Diversity Strategy? A: As a communicator, with multiple tasks on your plate at any hour of the day (or night), you may not understand what a "workplace diversity strategy" means or why your company needs one. Yet, as a communicator, you serve as the "voice" of your organization. And that voice must reach a diverse employee base and a diverse marketplace. Living up to that responsibility can be daunting. Amongst daily deadlines, how does one also champion diversity? Our thought is, you start slowly. And naturally we're here to help. As part of our Diversity Initiative we have begun building this Communicator's Diversity Resource Center. In a sea of information on diversity, this resource center will be specifically geared to your needs as communicators. Do You Have a Diversity Question? Just email us at diversity@prsastlouis.org. We are assembling a panel of local communicators implementing diversity initiatives at their companies to help answer your questions in future eNews updates. Are You a Communicator Involved in Diversity Initiatives? Please consider volunteering for our Panel? Just email us your name and contact information at diversity@prsastlouis.org Val Joyner, Diversity Chair
