4) PRSA Awards Scholarships to Regional PRSSA Units

PRSA St. Louis awarded four $250 scholarships to regional college chapters of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) at the Oct. 18 chapter luncheon. Student reps from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, SIU-Edwardsville, Southeast Missouri State University and Webster University accepted the awards from chapter president Chuck Reitter and student relations committee chair Michelle Mason on behalf of their respective PRSSA chapters.  The student chapters will use the funds to help send students to the 2006 PRSSA National Conference, Nov. 10-14 in Salt Lake City.
“We hope that by strengthening our relationships with the regional chapters, we will create a strong base of future professionals who will soon join us in the field of public relations,” Mason said.  “We are pleased that we are able to expand our student relations activities to better connect with our PRSSA chapters.” The PRSA student relations committee serves as a liaison between area public relations students and the St. Louis chapter of PRSA.  The group provides support to students through mentoring and professional development.  Members of the student relations committee have assisted dozens of area students through online mentoring and in-class speaking engagements. If you are not involved but would like to help in the future, contact Michelle at mmason@millenniumcom.com. Related photo.
