1) Let's Network

Back by overwhelmingly popular demand, the St. Louis Ambassadors Club will host another Evening Business-Networking Extravaganza, Thursday, July 10 at the Cabanne House in Forest Park (in Lindell Blvd.). PRSA-St. Louis, which participated in two of these events last year, will join up with the Ambassadors Club and six other business organizations for an evening of business networking and business card swapping. There is a $10 cover charge for food and beverages. There is more information on our home page www.prsastlouis.org or go here for more information and to register. More than 400 members of participating groups attended the summer get-together last year.

2) New Board Members Named

Three new members have been named to the PRSA-St. Louis Board by the nominations committee and Chapter president Jim Braibish - two of them to newly created positions. Named are: Jill Haynes, Isle of Capri Casinos, who will serve as program co-chair with Carolyn Green; Erin Mohan, Express Scripts, who will be assistant treasurer with Chuck Reitter, and Beth von Behren, City of Ferguson, who will lead a reinvigorated seasoned professionals committee. Please welcome them to our leadership team.

PRSA Young Pros is teaming up once again with GenNext to help others! This year we will be helping with one of their most popular service projects at the St. Louis Area Food Bank. We will be inspecting donated items and sorting in appropriate boxes (canned goods, dry goods, glass goods, etc.) for distribution to those in need. The event will be from noon to 3:00 p.m., July 19, and afterwards we'll debrief at a thank-you event (to be determined). If you need more information call David Gonzalez with GenNext at 314-383-3335 or Stephanie Phillips at 314-799-0434. Please RSVP to youngpros@prsastlouis.org by July 11. Thanks. The Food Bank event will be at 70 Corporate Woods Drive, Bridgeton, MO 63044.

b. Ad Club Has New Web Site; Real Man of Genius

The St. Louis Ad Club has a new Web Site and a Real Man of Genius coming their way, July 11. Check out the site www.adclubstlouis.org and check in to their luncheon meeting with Mark Gross, senior vice president and group creative director of DDB-Chicago. He and the firm are the brains behind Bud Light's "Real Men of Genius Campaign" now know for being the most awarded radio campaign in advertising history. The luncheon is open to non-members and you can reserve a seat online through the new Web site.

c. Monsanto Communications Team Gains National Recognition

Remember Monsanto's internal communications program, shared at our March luncheon? Monsanto's employee and electronic communications team was created less than a year ago and is already gaining national recognition. In May, the team won a total of four International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Bronze Quill Awards, three Hermes Creative Awards and a Ragan Recognition Award. The awards were received for work on the company's Intranet and Internet sites.

Monsanto's approach, as shared by Glynn Young, APR Fellow PRSA, at the March luncheon, is to give employees news - the good and the bad - about their industry and Monsanto's company-unfiltered and in a timely manner. "The feedback we are receiving is that we are the first company to invest in this model internally," Young said. "And the feedback from employees is overwhelmingly positive-and they want more so they can contribute to the conversation about biotech, both internally and externally."

Team members include: Young, director of employee and electronic communications; Michael Burger, IT communications manager; Raegan Johnson, employee communications specialist; Nanette Merkel, IT communications specialist, Chris Paton, electronic communications specialist; Katie Sauer, communications project manager; Scott Stevener, external news manager; Mark Sutherland, internal news manager; Selwyn Swe, IT communications specialist; and Connie Vivrett, corporate Web site manager.
