1) Former PRSA-St. Louis Chapter President Don Lottmann DiesFormer PRSA-St. Louis Chapter president Don Lottmann, has died in Florida at the age of 67. For a report of his death and a memorial book, check out this Post-Dispatch obituary. Lottmann was executive vice president of public relations for the former Southwestern Bell Corp., (now AT&T), when it was headquartered in St. Louis, leading at the time the city's largest PR shop. He served as PRSA-St. Louis Chapter president in 1985. A leader in the profession and a gentleman to all whom he met, he retired to pick up one of his passions - golf. You can find Don's photo and some of the other past presidents who attended our 55th Chapter anniversary, in 2003 from that date here. 2) Kirkwood Tragedy Takes Life of PRSA FriendConnie Karr, one of the victims in the Feb. 7 tragic shootings in Kirkwood, was not a member of PRSA but a good friend. In fact, she had registered herself and two Maritz co-workers through us for the combined PRSA-CSPRC-IABC luncheon in January, which she attended with many of our members and friends. She had attended other PRSA luncheons while on the staff of Millennium Communications, now part of Hughes, prior to joining Maritz. Also known to some by her maiden name (Connie Conroy), she began her career at the old St. Louis Globe-Democrat. In addition to our thoughts and prayers for the Lottmann family, our thoughts go to the Karr family and to our members and families, many of whom live in Kirkwood or do business there. Services for slain Kirkwood officials.
3) Pro-Am Day at Saint Louis UniversityProfessional PR staffers are still needed for various parts of the annual Pro-Am Day at Saint Louis University, Friday, Feb. 22. Check out the tentative program and contact PRSA's Liese Hutchison, Pro-Am Day chair, if you can assist in any capacity or have questions. For those of you planning on attending the monthly PRSA luncheon held in conjunction with Pro-Am Day, resume reviewers are needed immediate following the luncheon (30 minutes max). If you have a PR agency you might want to let Liese know you are attending and be ready to meet and share more about what you do (and how students might get you their resumes in the future) later in the afternoon. College students can attend the luncheon only. Any student with questions about the full-day program should contact Lauren Begley, the student chair. 4) Leftovers from January Combined Luncheon? Prize WinnersLuke Smith, Director of Public Relations, Lutheran Senior Services, and Carolyn Green, Principal, C. Green & Associates, were the lucky drawing winners of our two PRSA sponsors at the combined PRSA-CSPRC-IABC luncheon at the Crowne Plaza in January. Smith, a CSPRC member, won the drawing from BurrellesLuce rep Tressa Robbins. He will receive a subscription to BurrellesLuce Media Contacts. Green, new PRSA-St. Louis president-elect and program chair, wins a free press release (up to $500) from Marketwire's Dave Wallis. If you didn't get a chance to stop by either of the sponsor tables check out their respective Web sites and get acquainted with both reps - both PRSA-St. Louis Chapter members. 5) Say Hello to These New Chapter Members
