1) Making Employee communications exciting and challenging
Denice McKeown and Brian Knopfel, co-chairs of Ameristar Casino St. Charles' 2004 Ameristar Cares workplace giving campaign, will present a share a case study "success" story on how to give more meaning to employee communications and to turn on company employees, March 25 at the Junior League.  See Enhancing Employee Communications for details, menu options and to register or go directly to Register Now.

Coming June 15 at the Junior League "When Activists Attack:  Challenges of a Grateful Dead Widow and Other Real-Life Adventures in Issues Management" An organization's actions before, during and after an attack by activist groups will determine the attack's long-term effect on the organization's reputation.  Chris Horner, Director, Public Affairs for Monsanto, offers anecdotes and advice based on real-world experiences dealing with activists' hot-button issues.

If you missed the monthly chapter luncheon in April, catch up on the verdict on St. Louis hosting the 2005 Men's NCAA championship - how did we do - and a review Missy Slay's presentation. 2) Accreditation classes start May 25
PRSA-St. Louis will help you with your preparation to take the APR exam, or accreditation in public relations, and for free.  Classes begin May 25 at the St. Louis County Library on Lindbergh across from Plaza Frontenac. Topics include: May 25 -Introduction to the program; May 31 - Business Literacy; June 15 - Specific Communications Topics; June 22 - Management Skills and Issues, Audience Definition; June 28 - Communications Models, Theories/Ethics and Law, and  July 5 - Research, Planning, Implementation & Evaluation.  See more details and leaders at Accreditation Syllabus 2005.

3)  Young Professionals Update

Interested in becoming more involved in PRSA-St. Louis?  In 2006? Home Alone - Some Humorous Happenings?
Are you among the growing number of PR professionals who work from your home?  Have some humorous or other stories you'd like to share? Kathy Deters kathy_deters@hotmail.com, who does PR from her home in O'Fallon, Mo., is putting together a series of humorous columns on the pitfalls and rewards of working from home that she plans to pitch to a local business publication. As part of the series, she'll be looking at emotional maintenance for home-based professionals-dealing with occasional feelings of isolation, finding professional mentors, keeping up with the latest in your trade, etc.  Contact her if your story is printable.
