1. "Challenges and Opportunities in Global Public Relations"
Pete Snyder, co-founder of Synder-Workman Communications, will explore the realm of a world drastically shrunk by the click of a mouse and the strategic placement of a stationary mini-cam, yet where cultural, historical and even religious differences still abound to headline our February luncheon, Friday, Feb. 27, at Saint Louis University. It's part of Pro-Am Day activities, sponsored by Biz360.com. Active Market Intelligence. Registration is now open

Biz360:

2. Pro-Am Day Help Sought
Have something to share with a college junior or senior about ready to plunge into the world of PR? Why not help in the annual PRO-AM Day at Saint Louis University, Friday, Feb. 27 (and attend the monthly PRSA-St. Louis luncheon in between). Serve as a speaker on one of the breakout panel sessions.  The topics are: integrated communications, nonprofit PR, sports PR (9:55-10:45), media relations, special events, crisis PR (10:55-11:45). Or meet one-on-one with the students after the lunch from 1:45-2:45 for the resume review and mock interview session. Please contact Liese Hutchison at hutchill@slu.edu for more information or to volunteer your expertise.

3. Mark your calendars for March 19, April 29 and Feb 19?
Our March 19 program has been on the calendar for some time.  We hoped you've circled the date and subject.  April 29 PRSA St. Louis will host and hear from a name familiar to anyone in PR - Aaron D. Cushman.  The author of newly released "A Passion for Winning - Fifty Years of Promoting Legendary People and Products," Cushman will share some of his numerous and varied experiences with everyone from presidents to the Three Stooges.  He'll likely touch on some positive ways to achieve positive media relations and the evolution of our industry.

Feb. 19 is an important day as well. New program chair/president elect Jeff Waldman has scheduled an 8:30 morning meeting to brainstorm and explore future PRSA-St. Louis programs.  If you would like to work with him and his committee or have a program/idea/speaker/presentation to discuss, call him at 314-996-7572 or e-mail him at jrw1712@bjc.org. Look back at recent programs, speakers, what went well and what could be improved on or even revisited.

4. Silver Anvil Competition: Enter by Feb. 13th and Save
The early bird deadline for entering the Silver Anvil competition is 4 p.m., Friday, Feb.13, 2004.  Deadline for receipt of all entries at PRSA headquarters is 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27, 2004. To enter online, or for more information visit Silver Anvil Awards an important on-line resource for those interested in reviewing examples of "best practice" case studies as well as a resource center for entrants. Offerings include a Reading Room as well as a Power Point presentation prepared by members of the Honors & Awards Committee. And as you are preparing you Silver Anvil entry, don't miss the opportunity to gain even greater visibility by submitting the public relations tactics defined in your entry into the Bronze Anvil Competition, and also by nominating the one key individual involved in your campaign for PRSA's Public Relations Professional of the Year Award. Information on both can be found online at www.prsa.org.

6. Board loses one, moves one, adds one
The 2004 PRSA-St. Louis Board had not even had an "official" business meeting before a lineup change was made.  Elected secretary Jaime Folsom elected not to serve in 2004 and was replaced by Melissa Barreca.  Barreca's title will be "interim" until she can be officially voted upon at an upcoming meeting. Rob Staggenborg, CBC High School, was appointed to fill Barreca's Membership Co-Chair position.
