How can members of your organization create an inclusive culture? How does attracting diverse talent contribute to the overall success of an organization? What’s the difference between intent and impact with regard to messaging, and why is it that some messages with good intentions sometimes end up all wrong? Emily Pitts, MBA, Principal responsible for Inclusion and Diversity at Edward Jones, will take PRSA members through the ins and outs of attracting diverse talent and creating a more inclusive culture. You’ll learn how to implement sensitive communication strategies that will help you not only to improve your workplace, but also to increase the reach of external messaging. Pitts is charged with fine-tuning and implementing Edward Jones’ comprehensive inclusion initiative, designed to create and sustain a work environment that attracts, welcomes, supports and develops a diverse team of outstanding associates and energizes each member to achieve his or her full potential. In recognition of her value to the St. Louis business community, the St. Louis Business Journal named Pitts to its Most Influential Minority Business Leaders Class of 2008. She also received the St. Louis Community Empowerment Foundation’s 2009 Women’s Leadership Award for Corporate Excellence. Pitts completed the Washington University Executive MBA Program in 2011, and received the Class Ambassador Award from her peers.
