Dixie Platt

Dixie Platt is senior vice president - Mission and External Relations for SSM Health Care, one of the largest Catholic health systems in the country. Platt serves as president of the SSM Policy Institute. She also oversees government relations, advocacy, mission and communications. Prior to joining SSM, she worked as an account supervisor for the international public relations firm of Fleishman-Hillard.
From 1986 to 1992, Platt was a television news producer in Sacramento, Calif., Norfolk, Vir., and St. Louis, where her 10 o'clock newscast had the largest audience share of any late news in the country. She worked for four years on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., serving as a legislative assistant to the chairman of the House Committee on Government Operations. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a double major in French and Spanish, Platt studied abroad extensively and wrote for a regional French newspaper during the summer of 1985. She also holds a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
In 2006, Platt was named one of St. Louis’s Most Influential Business Women by the St. Louis Business Journal. She has participated in Leadership St. Louis and served on the board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society for seven years. She has also served as an advisor on communications for the Clayton School District.
